The Oak Hill boys’ cross country team has recently been mentioned among some elite company.
In a ranking done by the web site www.inccstats.com, the Eagles were ranked No. 50 among the all-time school rankings. The computerized rankings were based on postseason performances from 1980-2012.
Oak Hill was one of only three small-school teams ranked in the top-50. Northfield was ranked at No. 40 and Westview was ranked No. 42.
Twenty-nine of the top 30 listed were all large schools. Carmel was ranked No. 1, while Fishers was second Portage was third, Valparaiso was fourth and North Central was fifth.
The only non-large school ranked in the top-30 was West Noble, which was ranked No. 23.
The Eagles have advanced to the semistate for nine out of the last 10 years. Oak Hill has advanced to the regional for 13 straight seasons.
This year’s Oak Hill team has had another strong season. The Eagles have already won the Oak Hill Hokum Karem, Oak Hill Invitational, Grant Four championship and the New Haven championship. They were runners-up in the Marion Invitational.
The Eagles are ranked No. 12 in the medium-school division according to indianarunner.com.
