Cross Country Teams Start Season With Wins Over Manchester and Southwood

Boys XC (Oak Hill 15, Manchester 69, Southwood, 89)
– Boys score a perfect 15 points taking the top 5 spots and 9 of the top 10 overall against Manchester and Southwood. Running as a pack senior JC Herring ultimately won the race in 18:30 while freshman Tahj Johnson and sophomore Julian Garcia took 2nd and 3rd in 18:39 and 18:40. Senior Silas Vermilya and freshman Raffi Fry both also finished in the top 5 to round out the perfect sweep. Other Top 10 finishers for the boys were freshman Dillon Mitchell, junior Dillon Stewart, sophomore Colin Harts, and freshman Macallister Cheek.

Girls XC (Oak Hill 23, Macnhester 46, Southwood 61)
– The Lady Eagles put 6 girls in the top 11 to win and triangular meet against Manchester and Southwood 23-46-61. Junior Margo Hornocker was runner up in 20:28. Following Hornocker in spots 3-5 were freshman Mollie Gamble, sophomore Jenessa Hasty, and junior Camille Taylor. Gamble’s time of 21:07 was the fastest in program history by a 9th grade girl competing in their first 5K race. Junior Savannah Hart was the 5th scorer in 9th place.
