Oak Hill’s boys and girls cross country teams made a long trek to the Brown County Eagle Invite to compete on the Southern Indiana semistate course and the Golden Eagles made the trip well worth their time.

Junior Mollie Gamble competed in the Elite race and put down a season-best time of 19:18 to finish second overall.

“Mollie ran about as smart of a race today as I have seen her put out,” said Oak Hill coach Paige Brunner via email. “She sat just inside top-20 for about a K then gradually moved up into the top-10 and top-5 before taking over 2nd with mile left. A season best on a day like today is an amazing run. She was able to move very well throughout the race on a day where a lot of races were over with by the first mile because of difficulty to pass.”

Even without the two-time state qualifier Gamble in the girls line, Oak Hill still won the A division race (24 schools) with 38 points.

Sophomores Selah Jackson and Kinzie Robey led Oak Hill by finishing second and third respectively. Grace Geller was 12th, Kate Hornocker ran 13th, Ireland Dodson ended 14th and Lauren Marsh was 15th for the Eagles.

Not to be outdone, Oak Hill’s boys also captured the A division race (22 schools) with 39 points. Barr-Reeve was second with 118.

The race was run combined with Division AA (large schools not in Elite Division as well then separated after into two divisions meaning 46 teams total competed. Warren Central was crowned AA winner, but Oak Hill’s boys would have won AA division as well.

Three Eagles ended in the top-10 led by Raffi Fry’s fifth-place finish. Dillon Mitchell (6th) and Macallister Cheek (8th) also in the top-10. Tahj Johnson ended 13th and Danny Nally was 14th to round out scoring for Oak Hill. Sol O’Blenis was 18th and Julian Garcia ended 21st for Oak Hill.
