Longtime PE/Health teacher and coach, Kay Bauer, was inducted into the Grant County Sports Hall of Fame Saturday, Apr. 7th, 2013 at the Grant County YMCA.

Bauer was named the varsity volleyball coach at Oak Hill in 1976 and compiled a 451-231 record. During Bauer’s time, the Eagles won nine sectional championships and a regional title in 1988. They also won eight MIC and TRC Conference championships and nine Grant County titles.

Bauer also helped start the junior high girls’ basketball and track and field programs.

“I just wanted to make a difference in young students’ lives,” Bauer said. “I knew that the lessons that I learned from participating in many varsity sports would be very worthwhile when I started coaching. I just wanted young girls to have the same opportunities that young guys did.”

Congratulations!! A well deserved honor! Thanks for all the dedicated years you gave our community. You’ve remained one of my very favorites from Oak Hill….even after nearly 40 years. Congrats again.
