The Panthers set another 18-hole scoring school record with a 376 and finished nine shots ahead of fourth-place Wabash (385) to earn a spot in the East Noble Regional at Noble Hawk Golf Course on Saturday in Kendallville. Oak Hill (404) finished fourth, Madison-Grant (408) was fifth while Marion (427) and Mississinewa (441) ended ninth and 10th, respectively.

Eastbrook will be joined at Noble Hawk by Oak Hill’s Hope Mygrant, who shot 87, and Madison-Grant’s Kasey Cleaver, who ended with 93, who each earned one of the three individual qualifying spots reserved for players not on an advancing team. Bella Carillo of Wabash shot 80 to finish as second medalist and claim the third advancing spot.

Mygrant entered the 2017 sectional at Norwood Golf Course in Huntington with hopes qualifying for regional in her freshman season, but admitted she had the worst round of her career. Mygrant’s 87 on Saturday included a 39 on Arbor Trace’s front nine, which came after she started on hole 14 in the shotgun start employed in the tournament.

“I didn’t start off very well at all. I know last year I played my worst round and I became a Debby Downer and put in my mind that maybe I wouldn’t make it through,” Mygrant said. “But I pushed through on the front and I was really impressed with how I came back.”

Morgan Nelson shot 102 for Oak Hill while Bayli Toy had 105 and Holly Gillespie finished with 110 and in scoring positions for the Eagles. Bailey Dewitt shot 114 for Oak Hill.
