The Grant 4 and Conference Champion Oak Hill Cross Country team’s season came to an end Saturday at the IHSAA New Haven Semi State on The Plex course in Fort Wayne. Making their 13th trip to the Semi State in the last 15 years the Golden Eagles finished 17th in the 20 team field with 478 points. Fort Wayne Carroll ranked # 2 in the state of Indiana was the Semi State Champion totaling an impressive 40 points. The boys were without two of their normal top 5 scoring line up but competed well with five freshmen in the top seven. Three freshmen – Tahj Johnson (112 – 17:33), Raffi Fry (119 – 17:38), and Dillon Mitchell (136 – 17:51) were the first three Golden Eagles to cross the finish line. Senior Silas Vermilya competing in his last race for the Golden Eagles was the 4th scorer in 138th – 17:56. The 5th and final scorer was freshman Macallister Cheek 147th – 18:16.
