Junior Cody White helped the Oak Hill boys’ golf team win a fourth straight Central Indiana Conference championship. Freshman Taylor Asher helped the Marion softball team advance to the championship game of the North Central Conference Tournament.

For those honors, White and Asher have been named this week’s Chronicle-Tribune Athletes of the Week.

White earned All-CIC honors for the third straight year and won his second conference championship with a 3-under-par 69 during Saturday’s meet at the Elks Country Club. White also earned medalist honors his freshman year at the CIC Meet and took runner-up his sophomore season.

White had five birdies, two bogeys and 11 pars during his medalist round.

White shot a 3-under-par 33 on the front nine and had an even-par 36 on the back nine. After opening his round with three straight pars, White had back-to-back birdies on Nos. 4 and 5. He then birdied No. 7 to get to 3-under par and pared his final two holes.

White then opened his back nine with a birdie on No. 10. He bogeyed No. 11 and then birdied No. 12. After four straight pars, White bogeyed No. 17 to get back to 3-under-par. He then pared No. 18.

White won medalist honors by six strokes over Frankton’s Matt Ginder. Oak Hill won the team championship with a 310, beating second-place Frankton by 35 strokes.

In the dual meet leading up to Saturday, White took medalist honors with an even-par 36 as Oak Hill defeated Marion 161-171 at the Meshingomesia Country Club.

Oak Hill is still undefeated on the season. The Eagles play South Adams and Eastbrook today.
