Class 2A third-ranked Oak Hill held off a determined effort from host Northfield to post a 73-66 boys’ basketball victory in the Golden Eagles’ final regular season game Friday evening.
The Eagles completed a 19-3 regular season and plays Wabash at 6 p.m. Wednesday in the opening round of Sectional 37 in their gym.
Nortfield (8-14) battled the Eagles to a 17-all tie through one quarter and trailed 33-30 at halftime. After falling behind 14 points in the second half the Norse pulled to with four points down the stretch, but the Eagles were able to make some late free throws and baskets to keep them at bay.
Tyce Frank led the Eagles with 22 points and David Arens was next with 14 points. Caleb Middlesworth, coming off ankle surgery that kept him out of action since Jan. 7, contributed 13 points in a bench role. Spencer Ballinger also had 13 points.
