Oak Hill senior Tiffany Petro helped the Golden Eagles girls’ basketball team remain undefeated last week. Eagle boys’ basketball senior Seth Sallee helped Oak Hill jump to a 2-0 start.

Both of those efforts helped Petro and Sallee be named the Chronicle-Tribune’s Athletes of the Week.

Sallee opened his week by scoring a game-high 23 points in the Eagles’ season-opening 88-58 victory over Wabash last Wednesday. On Saturday, Sallee scored a game-high 19 points in Oak Hill’s 80-43 victory over Manchester.

Sallee scored 21 second-half points in the victory over Wabash. After going into halftime with only two points, he scored 18 points in a third quarter where the Eagles outscored the Apaches 31-9.

“I was just very proud of Seth from the standpoint that he spent almost 12 minutes on the bench in the opening half,” Oak Hill coach Kevin Renbarger said. “Sometimes when players do that, they come out in the second half and try and force things. But Seth did a good job of taking what was given to him. And our ball movement was much better in the second half.”

Sallee’s scoring came on 11-of-14 shooting from the floor. He hit the only 3-pointer he attempted in the contest. He also tied for a team high with seven rebounds and had one assist and one steal in the victory.

Following that performance, Sallee was 8-of-13 from the floor in the Eagles’ victory over Manchester. He also had four steals and three assists in the win.

Oak Hill carries its 2-0 record into Saturday’s game at Taylor.

Petro helped the Eagles go 2-0 last week to move to 5-0 on the season.

The Eagle senior center opened her week by scoring nine points and grabbing nine rebounds in Oak Hill’s 49-27 win over Southwood. Petro also had one assist and one block in the victory.

Petro followed that with a double-double effort of 12 points and 11 rebounds in Saturday’s 46-43 win over Manchester. The Eagles trailed 34-26 before outscoring the Squires 20-9 in the fourth quarter.

Petro finished 6-for-13 from the floor and also grabbed five offensive rebounds. She also had two steals and three blocks.

Petro has averaged 10.2 points and 8.2 rebounds through five games.

Oak Hill looks to remain perfect on the season Friday when it opens Central Indiana Conference action at home against Elwood.
