Wrestlers’ Take Second At Eastbrook Invite

The Oak Hill wrestling team took second place during Saturday’s Eastbrook Invitational. The Eagles scored 214 points.

Western won with 255 points. Southwood was third with 169 points. Tipton was fourth with 154.5 points. Eastern was fifth with 148.5 points, while Marion was sixth with 124.5 points. Eastbrook was seventh with 140 points and Wabash was eighth with 76 points.

Oak Hill’s Travis Davenport (106), Shane Curtis (132), Breighton Mullinix (138), Riley Johnson (152) and Keegan Scott (220) all won individual championships. All of them finished at 3-0.

Kaleb Martin finished 2-1 to take second at 160 pounds. Lee Mann was 2-1 to take second at 170 pounds. Ethan Bowland (285) and Jake Mullinix (182) both were 3-1 to take third in their respective weight classes.

Marion’s Jordan Bledsoe was second at 106 pounds. Salvador Puente was second at 120 pounds. Hunter Williams was third at 132 pounds with a 3-1 record.

“I felt like we got off to a slow start today in the first round but really recovered nicely throughout the day,” Marion coach Steve Swinson said. “It was good to see a few of our young kids winning there first varsity matches today as everyone scored team points for us. It’s still early in our season, but I like the direction our young team is headed, we just need to gain more experience.”
